Heal your mind, body and spirit.
As a fourth year religious studies major I have come to study the many religions of the world. It has been both an enriching and sometimes even enlightening experience, yet I have always felt a gap between what I was learning in the classroom and what the religion was really about.
So, you can imagine I was absolutely thrilled at the chance to take part in a Kundalini dance yoga class a few weeks ago. Kundalini…. Dance…. Yoga…. WHAT?
Yes, dance and yoga can take place in the same setting and for those of you who love the mind body connection of yoga, but can’t stand the rigidity of the poses, Kundalini dance yoga is just the thing for you!
Kundalini yoga itself is a branch of Tantric Hinduism that practices the awakening of the feminine energy through the cultivation of the mind, body and spirit. Now, I understand the skepticism that might arise with such a statement, but having experienced Kundalini dance for myself, I can assure you it is the real deal.
After the hour and a half session came to an end I felt a natural sense of ecstasy, as did all those around me. It was as if all those physical and mental ailments that had been plaguing my body over the past year just melted away, I was truly detoxed.
I encourage all of you reading this to experience Kundalini dance yoga for yourselves; it is guaranteed to be something that you will never regret.
Kundalini yoga is a form of physical and meditative yoga that comprises of various techniques using the mind, body and our senses.
The Kundalini energy is often represented as a snake coiled at the base of the spine. This yoga gives special consideration to the role of the spine and the endocrine system – both essential parts for yogic awakening.
