Quick Tips for Becoming The True YOU!

Have you ever wondered why it’s so damn hard to just be YOU?

If you’re anything like me (and most people I know), there’s a part of yourself that you keep locked up and bottled away.

Maybe it’s the giddy, geeky school girl who blushes when a handsome boy enters the room.

Maybe it’s the soft, tender woman who just wants to relax into the arms of her partner after a tough day at work, knowing she can trust that everything is going to be ok. (At least in that particular moment…)

Or better yet, maybe it’s the “bitchy” lady who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to ask for it.

Here’s the thing…

The part(s) of yourself you’re hiding are only keeping you farther away from becoming the person you’re supposed to be today.

We all have a confident woman inside who is tender, fierce, capable, playful and turned on. Unfortunately, many of us have been trained to suppress her.

This week I was reading the Oprah magazine (yes, I will always love her!) and I came across an article called “Becoming the Person You Were Meant To Be: Where To Start”.

This article has almost 5000 Facebook likes and 400 tweets and it gets my vote too!

Here are a couple of quotes from the article that I enjoy:

“You have to make mistakes to find out who you aren’t. You take the action, and the insight follows: You don’t think your way into becoming yourself.”

“There’s always something ending and something beginning. Yet in the very center is the truth of your spiritual identity: is you.”

Both of these quotes speak to what I’ve experienced in my life. With each mistake, each truth, each ending and each new beginning, it’s true…I’m becoming closer to the truest ME.

And despite the blood, sweat and tears I’ve endured along the way, I feel more fulfilled and inline with my purpose than I ever have before.

The article is a quick read that gives a few tips on how to step into your true self and it reminds us that we’re not alone.

It’s written by Anne Lamot and her writing has a certain humor that I enjoy.
